What Causes Trench Mouth?

Trench mouth is painful inflammation the gums which can interrupt daily life. The swelling redness bleeding mouth ulcers & pain are the main symptoms with trench mouth. Trench mouth is named at the beginning World War II soldiers which are often infected with the disease. Trench mouth not common at this present time but does still exists.

Trench mouth is caused by bacteria the main factor. Bacteria live inside & outside our bodies & are essential to normal body functions. However the bacteria inside the mouth can easily invade. The environment within the mouth is perfect for bacteria to multiply.

Antibiotics may also be recommended to treat trench mouth. Although antibiotics can help the source infection must be removed to fully heal. Food particles & other debris may lodge the sore around the teeth & bacteria will still be present even if you are taking antibiotics. That”s why brushing & flossing although painful is still the best way to eliminate bacteria & control.
